Two for Tuesday

This picture reminded me just how many opportunities I have to make a memory. This was a typical breakfast, however, Addie wanted to sit next to her sister. Thinking about doing more pictures I took out the camera. The first picture didn't turn out very good but Addie wanted to see it. I showed it to her and she got excited to do another. On the second try we got this one, one of her best. She is getting so mature. She totally loves seeing herself and wanted her picture taken. Another example is her talking with Leslee and she was reading before bed. Addie was put in time out last week. She may have been more before this, however, Chloe told on her. Well today Leslee was asking if she got a timeout today. Addie then told her that Sydney got a timeout for kicking. Leslee then called Dani to find if Chloe could confirm her story. Addie was right. While this may seem like no big deal. This may be one of the first time that Addie created a completely original response that gave us new information. Another milestone, another day. I need to make sure I remember these.

Another day another post

I figured that a few things have happened since my last post, so I guess it might be a good idea to post again. I would have posted earlier, however, Eric never reminds me to post so I never remember to do it. Well today I guess I do. Either that or I am trying to avoid going to bed, it is probably that.

This weekend we went down to Campaign, Illinois to visit some of Leslee's friends. We visited an apple orchid. However, we did not actually see any apple trees. Instead we just did some carnival type activities and ate some apple foods. Brooklyn liked the eating part a lot. However, she also seemed to be a natural at the horse riding thing. Not even two and she is too cool for holding on with two hands.

This did get me thinking of how quickly Brooklyn is growing up and I am wondering if I am truly appreciating it. She is now getting to the stage where she wants things and remembers where they are. This is problem because Addison also wants things and often those are the things that Brooklyn wants. Leslee did point out how Addison never really had to deal with this, she never had to share much until Brooklyn came around. Of course, I should probably not be writing this down, because 15 years from now, Brooklyn might use this against me. Her terrible childhood might be pinned down to the fact that she never got the only child time that Addison got.

Brooklyn is going through that frustration stage of having more needs and not being able to communicate them. I hope she begins to really talk soon. I fear that she may be behind like Addie and have the same continued frustrations that Addie has had. Even more so, I fear what it might mean for reading down the road. Lastly, I wonder what we are not doing well as parents. If both children struggle to talk at appropriate stages, does this mean we are not doing everything we need to do. I do not want to let my children down, they are too important to me. I hope I can reread this post in two more years and think how wrong I was to worry. I hope!

(And yes Eric, I also hope there is a few more entries in the next two years then the last two)

New camera means 100's of more photos

We got our new camera this week. We have been hoping to get a new camera for almost a year now. The old one took too much time between shots. Our new Cannon can do nearly continuous shooting. My new favorite thing to do is take 10 pictures in a row and get great candid shots. Usually about 2 out of the 10 are good, however, that means about 10 good pictures every time I get the camera out. I have taken over 200 pictures in the last two day. I will proably find only about 20 to 40 good pictures from that. While most of the pictures are not very good, I am still having a hard time deleting the bad pictures. I always fear I will regret it. Another cool thing is the ability to create little cheap video like images. I can create some neat .gif files that show movement. I tried to but it on my blog but it changed the file in to a .png. That means no animation. Oh well, I will find another way to share it.
