Another day another post

I figured that a few things have happened since my last post, so I guess it might be a good idea to post again. I would have posted earlier, however, Eric never reminds me to post so I never remember to do it. Well today I guess I do. Either that or I am trying to avoid going to bed, it is probably that.

This weekend we went down to Campaign, Illinois to visit some of Leslee's friends. We visited an apple orchid. However, we did not actually see any apple trees. Instead we just did some carnival type activities and ate some apple foods. Brooklyn liked the eating part a lot. However, she also seemed to be a natural at the horse riding thing. Not even two and she is too cool for holding on with two hands.

This did get me thinking of how quickly Brooklyn is growing up and I am wondering if I am truly appreciating it. She is now getting to the stage where she wants things and remembers where they are. This is problem because Addison also wants things and often those are the things that Brooklyn wants. Leslee did point out how Addison never really had to deal with this, she never had to share much until Brooklyn came around. Of course, I should probably not be writing this down, because 15 years from now, Brooklyn might use this against me. Her terrible childhood might be pinned down to the fact that she never got the only child time that Addison got.

Brooklyn is going through that frustration stage of having more needs and not being able to communicate them. I hope she begins to really talk soon. I fear that she may be behind like Addie and have the same continued frustrations that Addie has had. Even more so, I fear what it might mean for reading down the road. Lastly, I wonder what we are not doing well as parents. If both children struggle to talk at appropriate stages, does this mean we are not doing everything we need to do. I do not want to let my children down, they are too important to me. I hope I can reread this post in two more years and think how wrong I was to worry. I hope!

(And yes Eric, I also hope there is a few more entries in the next two years then the last two)

You BOTH are wonderful parents! Coming from a parent who had 3 children in speech, there are just some kids that need a little extra help! You will do whatever it takes to make sure they have every opportunity to succeed...that's what makes you EXCELLENT parents!
BTW...we were at Curtis Apple Orchard this past Sat. When were you there? Too funny!
